Michigan State lands 2025 California OL Drew Nichols

Michigan State has received another commitment as part of its 2025 class, this time landing three-star California offensive lineman Drew Nichols. Nichols (6-4.5, 280), of Temecula (Calif.) Murrieta Valley, spent the weekend of June 7 in East Lansing for an official visit.

Nichols also took an official visit to SMU before his commitment. He canceled upcoming trips to UCLA and Boise State after committing to the Spartans. UCLA was pushing hard for Nichols prior to his official visit with the Bruins. Nichols held additional offers from Miami, Arkansas, Minnesota, Arizona and California, among others.

Nichols is the No. 1078 overall recruit in the2025 class, per theOn3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 94 interior offensive lineman and the No. 89 recruit from California in his class.

Michigan State offensive line coach Jim Michalczik recruited Nichols as an interior offensive lineman. Michalczik offered Nichols back in March. Nichols has a connection to Michigan State by way of his mother, who grew up in the state of Michigan and has two brothers (Nichols’ uncles) who attended the university.

Nichols is the first 2025 offensive line commitment for Michalczik and Michigan State. The Spartans welcomed interior lineman Houston Kaahaaina-Torres for an official visit on May 31. Michigan State sits strongly in his recruitment as well. Utah offensive lineman Darius Afalava also visited East Lansing on May 31. The Spartans are competing with Oklahoma, LSU and Utah, among others, for his services.

The Spartans are also high on in-state three-star tackle Antonio Johnson’s list. Johnson will visit Michigan State on June 21. He could potentially be the next recruit to join the fold in East Lansing, with a final decision coming later this month.

Michigan State now holds sevencommitments in its 2025 class. Nichols joins California quarterback Leo Hannan, Wisconsin tight endEmmett Bork, Ohio wide receiver Braylon Collier, and in-state running back Jace Clarizio on the offensive side of the ball. In-state linebackers Charles White and DiMari Malone round out the current 2025 class on defense.
