Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff confirms strike on oil refinery in Rostov region on June 5

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the information about a Ukrainian drone strike on the Novoshakhtinsk oil products plant in Rostov region on its Facebook.

"Ukraine's defense forces continue to methodically destroy Russia's oil refining industry. In particular, on June 5, our units successfully attacked the Novoshakhtinsk oil products plant in Rostov region with Ukrainian-made means,” the statement said.

According to intelligence, the fire damage resulted in the loss of 1.5 million tons of oil and petroleum products, amounting to approximately $540 million.

"Strikes on Russian oil refineries significantly complicate the enemy forces' ability to carry out their tasks during the armed aggression against our country," the General Staff noted.

Attack on Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery

On the night of June 6, information about an attack on the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery was posted online. Telegram channels published relevant videos.

Residents first heard a series of explosions, followed by a fire on the refinery's premises.

Later, it became known that the Novoshakhtinsk refinery was damaged as a result of a drone attack.
