'Peak boomerism': House GOP trolled for odd Cheesecake Factory rant

House Judiciary Committee Republicans are mad as hell about cheesecake and they're not going to take it anymore.

This is the message delivered in an odd X post Monday afternoon bemoaning New York City's plight under President Joe Biden's administration.

"Back in the good old days...you could fly to NYC affordably/Go to Times Square and not get robbed/Head to your hotel, that’s not overrun with illegal aliens/Dine at the Cheesecake Factory without spending your whole paycheck," the post states.

"NO LONGER POSSIBLE IN JOE BIDEN’S AMERICA."

This assessment of Biden's economy arrived on the heels of a May jobs report that Forbes described as "record breaking."

"It shows a continuing strong economy," Forbes reported Friday. "The Biden Administration’s robust and durable track record on jobs and unemployment is breaking records, putting up some of the best results we’ve seen in half a century."

This may be why the House Judiciary Republicans, and Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH), were almost immediately subjected to ridicule from both sides of the political aisle, as well as numerous fact checks.

"LMAO," replied Rhonda along with a Daily News report comparing crime rates in New York City and Ohio. "Ohio murder rates far higher than NYC."

The precinct that covers Times Square currently enjoys a crime rate nearly 80 percent lower than it did 31 years ago, NYPD data show.

X user @4HumanUnity issued a lengthy rebuttal noting the devastating impact COVID-19 had on New York under President Donald Trump's tenure.

"Why do you all act as if 2020 pandemic didn't happen?" he replied. "The so-called 'great economy' Trump keeps boasting about was merely him riding the economy of [former President Barack] Obama's success, only to completely botch it when a real crisis hit."

Others seized on the words "the good old days."

"The Republicans good old days include wanted to go back to when people were owned, and women couldn’t vote," opined @LetTheBirdDie.

"Back in the good old days the GOP wasn’t led by a convicted felon and rapist," added @DontMessWMurphy.

"Back in the good old days, like before trump, you didn’t have to worry about a sore loser candidate trying to overthrow the entire country bc his feelings were hurt," commented @burros_david.

X users who agreed with this conservative take on Biden's economy also vented frustration over what they perceived to be a lack of action from their elected leaders.

"YOU guys have allowed it!" replied @USANihilism. "Stop talking about it and STOP IT!"

"Back in the good ole days: You could count on the @GOP to do what they said they would do," added @GlenSPhoto. "NO LONGER POSSIBLE WITH THE CURRENT GOP."

"Me: let’s rebuild the republic," quipped @PadrePlyo. "GOP: best I can do is peak boomerism."

"Apart from incessant complaining," asked Frank Amari, "what EXACTLY does the @GOP propose?"

Crowdsource The Truth circled back to the cheesecake:

"Only a fool or a 12 year old comes to New York City to eat at the Cheesecake Factory," they wrote.

The Cheesecake Factory did not immediately respond to Raw Story's request for comment.
