Former Maryland Terrapins star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa just received his first professional opportunity. On Monday, the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced that they have agreed to terms on a deal with the Maryland star.

According to the Tiger-Cats, Tagovailoa joins the club as a member of their practice roster.

Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Miami Dolphins starting quarterback and former Alabama Crimson Tide star Tua Tagovailoa, entered his name into the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he would go undrafted and failed to secure an unrestricted rookie free-agent deal after the event. He did workout for a few NFL franchises, attending the rookie mini-camps of the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks, but was unable to work his way onto the training camp roster.

Tagovailoa transferred to Maryland after spending one season behind his brother at Alabama in 2019. With the Terrapins, the Ewa Beach, Hawaii, native saw the action in 41 games, completing over 67% of his past attempts (connecting on 955 of here is 1424 passes) while throwing for 11,256 yards, 76 passing touchdowns and another 13 on the ground.
