Bishop’s Stortford barber ready for 24-hour shift to raise money for Cancer Research UK

A Bishop’s Stortford barber will complete a sponsored 24-hour shift this weekend to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Manjeet Virdee, the owner of Ace of Fades in South Street, will begin cutting hair and trimming beards at 9am on Saturday, June 15, and will complete his marathon at 9am on Sunday.

As well as raising cash via sponsorship at https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/manjthebarber, he will be donating half of his takings to the charity.

He explained: “Recently, I had a health scare, I won’t go into details, but anyone close to me will know I was prodded and poked, in and out of hospital for two to three weeks weeks.

“Thankfully, I am fine but it opened my eyes to the fact that this is life for a lot of people.

“In and out of hospitals, doctors, tests, stress of waiting for results, not to mention how it affects your nearest and dearest.

“There are people close to me who have suffered or are suffering because of cancer.”

In 2018, Manjeet had his long locks cut for the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own through cancer. He also raised £700 for the charity.
