No. 10 seed NC State came into the Dawg house and defeated Georgia in the Athens Super Regional 2-1, securing the final spot of the College World Series while UGA was eliminated.

For Bulldog star Charlie Condon, Monday evening marked the end of a historic season and an incredible career in Athens as he now looks forward to his likely top-10 selection in the MLB Draft. In his final game, Condon went out appropriately, hitting a home run like he did in what seemed like most of Georgia’s games this season. However, he didn’t muster much production aside from the homer.

Meanwhile, the powerful Georgia offense simply struggled to match pace with the Wolfpack for much of the weekend, especially in that 18-1 bloodbath in the opener. After the final loss, Condon spoke to media and said his emotions are all over the place with the season ending.

“Yeah, it’s just a big kind of melting pot of emotions right now,” he said. “Just really proud of this group and proud of what we were able to accomplish, and really thankful to get to be a part of it.”

On the 2024 season as a whole, Charlie Condon put together a monster stat line. He finished with a .433 batting average, along with a 1.565 OPS, 1.009% slugging percentage, 37 home runs, 100 total hits, 78 RBIs and 57 walks.

While it didn’t end up being their day on Monday evening, Georgia was the first to find the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning against NC State as Bulldog slugger Tre Phelps homered off NC State’s Logan Whitaker to score the first two runs of the game.

However, that was all that that Georgia was able to muster until the sixth inning. In the meantime, NC State was able to tie the game in the top of the next inning. The Pack would then go on to score two more runs in the fourth inning to double their lead. Eli Serrano III only added to the lead in the top of the sixth with a home run of his own to push the score up to 5-2 in NC State’s favor.

In the sixth and seventh innings, each team added one run apiece to make it 6-4 heading into the eighth. NC State added two more in the top of that inning and Georgia didn’t get on the board again until Condon’s home run in the bottom of the ninth — which wasn’t enough to erase the deficit.
