Pro-Russian populist slogans are not dangerous for Ukraine, but for the countries of the European Union, as our state is already at war with Russia, stated the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

"I think this is what democracy is about. Your people choose this or that state, this or that leader. The one they want," said Zelenskyy.

In his opinion, the most important thing in the choice is "that people do not choose just pro-Russian populist slogans".

"I think this is dangerous. Because it is not dangerous for Ukraine. We are already in the most dangerous situation. We are at war, and pro-Russian radical slogans are dangerous for your countries," emphasized the President.

European Parliament elections

The European Parliament elections were held on June 6-9.

The new convocation of the European Parliament is expected to begin its work on July 11. First of all, MEPs will appoint the President of the European Parliament.

The new parliament will also have to approve the head of the European Commission.

The Parliament can vote only after the majority of EU heads of state and government officially nominate a candidate. This process is expected to be completed at the European Council meeting on June 27-28.
