The Alabama Crimson Tide are heading to Camp Randall for a highly-anticipated non-conference game against the Wisconsin Badgers. With that game in mind, Southwest Airlines has added special flights for fans looking to attend the game.

Recently, Southwest announced several extra flights to help fans get to games early in the 2024 college football season. That included two flights to help accommodate fans on their way to Wisconsin from Alabama.

On September 13th, 2024, Southwest will fly from Birmingham to Milwaukee. That’s the Friday before the game. Then, on Sunday, September 15th, Southwest will fly fans back, with a route from Milwaukee to Birmingham. That is, notably, a route that Southwest has not flown before with the airline adding it strictly for the game.

The Alabama-Wisconsin game is expected to be one of the best non-conference games of the season. Certainly, it’s expected to be the first major test of the Kalen DeBoer era as he replaces the legendary Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. It’s also a key test for the Badgers, with Luke Fickell looking to take a step forward in his second season coaching the Badgers.

Camp Randall Stadium is also known as a bucket list venue to see a game for many fans. Known for being home to one of the best atmospheres in college sports, and with great traditions like ‘jump around,’ it’s easy to see why fans of a team like Alabama won’t get many chances to play a Big Ten school on the road would want to go when they can.

Now, thanks to the Southwest flights to the game, those fans are going to have an easier time getting to the state of Wisconsin directly.

The game itself is set to kickoff at 11:00 am C.T. or 12:00 p.m. ET. It is going to air on Fox for fans who aren’t able to make it to Camp Randall.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer ‘up in the air’ on SEC deciding on conference game total

There is debate in the SEC about expanding the conference slate to nine games in football, up from the eight games it plays now. However, it’s a debate that Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer is still up in the air on.

“Yeah, I’m sure there’s a, you know, hear both ends of it. I think you’d have to make adjustments to your non-conference schedule, depending on which direction you go. I know the SEC slate that every team will have is going to be strong and it’s going to be one where you’d have to adjust how many Power Five teams — Power Four teams — you’re gonna play, you know, in the conference schedule,” DeBoer said.

“So, you know, I think 10 games, not nine games, you know, power five games are the ones that is a good number. You know, so if it was eight, probably add one or two, you know, and kind of see from there. So, I’m up in the air on it. Obviously, want to hear both from my athletic director, and also pros and cons from the conference of where it all stands. And know we’ll talk about that today.”
