5-star SAF Trey McNutt sets official visits to Texas A&M, Oregon

Shaker Heights (Ohio) five-star safety Trey McNutt will take official visits to Texas A&M and Oregon, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.

McNutt will visit College Station this weekend (June 14) and Oregon next week (June 21).

McNutt has had one of the most hotly contested recruitments thus far in the 2025 recruiting cycle. His father, Richard, won a national championship with Ohio State and the Buckeyes currently lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. But McNutt hasn’t been shy about his willingness to play outside the state of Ohio.

Official visits to USC and Florida are already in the books. McNutt told On3 last month at the On3 Elite Series that schools like Georgia, Oregon, USC, Ohio State and Texas A&M have all been recruiting him hard.

“Really all these schools have been recruiting me pretty hard, telling me they all see me at different positions,” McNutt said. “I can play multiple positions, my versatility and everything, so it’s kind of hard to say what school is it right now, but I’m still going through that process and I’m going to find out soon.”

Breaking down the Aggies and Ducks

On Texas A&M: “Mike Elko, it’s cool having a defensive head coach. Having him as also a safeties coach because he has a great mind as a defensive coach. Also with Coach (Ishmael Aristide)…growing as a coach, all of them have been recruiting me hard.”

On Oregon: “Coach Dan (Lanning), his passion and how he is as a coach, he’s just different. I can see that they’re building the program up and they’re trying to get a national championship. They want it over there.”
