George Conway smacks down Stephen Miller’s 'psychotic' take on Hunter Biden conviction

Conservative attorney George Conway just ripped apart the argument made by Stephen Miller – former President Donald Trump's top immigration adviser — that Hunter Biden's guilty verdict was somehow orchestrated by his father as "election interference."

On Tuesday, a 12-person Delaware jury found President Joe Biden's last living son, Hunter, guilty on all three counts in Department of Justice special counsel David Weiss' indictment. Two of those charges were for lying on a federal form Hunter filled out when buying a handgun in 2018, when he was addicted to crack cocaine, attesting under penalty of prosecution that he was not addicted to any illegal substances. The third conviction was for owning the gun itself. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in federal prison, which would mean he would be almost 80 years old by the time he is released if he's given the maximum penalty.

In a tweet responding to the conviction, Miller argued that President Joe Biden's Department of Justice was somehow interfering in the 2024 election on Biden's behalf by convicting his son of three felonies.

"DOJ is running election interference for Joe Biden— that’s why DOJ did NOT charge Hunter with being an unregistered foreign agent (FARA) or any crime connected with foreign corruption. Why? Because all the evidence would lead back to JOE," Miller tweeted. "DOJ is Joe’s election protection racket."

Conway — who is the ex-husband of former Trump senior advisor Kellyanne Conway — quote-tweeted Miller's post, simply writing "this is psychotic."

In a response to his own initial tweet, Miller added that the gun case against Hunter Biden was "a giant misdirection" and "an easy op for DOJ to sell to a pliant media that is all too willing to be duped."

"Don’t be gaslit. This is all about protecting Joe Biden and only Joe Biden," he tweeted.

Conway mocked that tweet as well, calling the argument "Completely wacko. But what else is new?"

President Biden has previously said he wouldn't pardon his own son if he was convicted in the federal case, meaning that it's possible Biden could get reelected to a second term in November while his son is simultaneously serving time in federal prison.

The jury deliberated for just three hours before delivering its unanimous guilty verdict for Hunter Biden. The president has so far not publicly commented on the verdict, though he is almost certain to be asked about during a speech on gun reform later Tuesday.
