'Irony': Expert draws surprising comparison between Trump parole and Biden conviction

Former President Donald Trump and Hunter Biden share a twisted irony: Beyond both having been found guilty in their respective trials, each reportedly has been caught with illicitly packing a gun, and for about the same amount of time.

CNN's Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst John Miller, citing a source, confirmed that Trump admitted during his Monday pre-sentencing interview to still possessing his third known gun in Florida. Miller made the comments during an interview on CNN's "The Lead" with Jake Tapper.

"Our understanding from a New York City official who was briefed on the interview — that Donald Trump and his lawyer, Todd Blanche who sat in on with probation officials yesterday — went through the regular questions about 'Where do you live?, How much time do you spend in Florida versus New York?', his family situation and access to firearms.

"They said there is a gun in Florida."

Miller noted that the amount of days since Trump was convicted — May 30 — would be nearly the same as that of Hunter Biden, who was found guilty Tuesday for violating gun laws. Biden owned a Colt Cobra .38 handgun for 11 days before his brother's widow and romantic interest, Hallie Biden, found it in a truck console and tossed it into a trash can outside a grocery store.

"It's interesting though, because [Trump] was convicted of felony charges at the end of May, which means he has been technically in illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for about as many days as Hunter Biden was — if you'd like the irony there," Mller said.

Two of Trump's three known guns were reported to be forfeited to the NYPD. The third gun's whereabouts remain a mystery.

State laws in New York and Florida ban convicted felons from having a gun. When Trump was arrested and booked last year, his concealed carry license was quietly suspended.

Miller noted "there were three guns listed there — two, were turned over," he said. "And when [city officials] said 'Where's the third?' he said, 'Oh, it had been lawfully transferred to Florida.'

"So this apparently is the gun that Trump and his lawyer were referring to yesterday, which apparently is still in Florida."

A Manhattan jury found the 45th president guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in a scheme to insulate himself by paying six-figure sums of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels, who alleged an affair with him, to corrupt the 2016 presidential campaign.

The 77-year-old presumptive Republican nominee for president has repeatedly denied the romp Daniels and has vowed to appeal the verdict after he's sentenced on July 11.
