Royal Desertion: Prince Harry's Old Eton and Army Allies Shun Him for Key Reason

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly become a social pariah in Britain.MEGA

Prince Harry left both the royal family and his home country of Britain over four years ago after "Megxit," and the Sandringham summit. In the wake of the Sussex scandals that have happened since, it is now reported that the once "incredibly popular" royal is now "virtually friendless" in the U.K. due to one key reason.

Harry and Meghan were kicked out of Frogmore Cottage in June 2023. MEGA

"He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan," royal scribe Tom Quinn shared. "As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the U.K. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles."

This insight comes nearly one year since King Charles III booted the pair from Frogmore Cottage. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were gifted the 8-bedroom Frogmore Cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth II as a country home following their May 2018 nuptials. The ex-actress reportedly "despised" the 19th-century dwelling and felt "tricked" by somehow thinking she and Harry were getting the far grander Frogmore House nearby. After leaving the monarchy, the pair vacated the property after British taxpayers footed a reported 4 million pound renovation of the cottage.

Harry would later pay this back after receiving Netflix money in late 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are 'estranged' from the royals. MEGA

"The story of Harry’s change of residence may have come out only in the past few days, but in fact, Harry quietly changed his primary residence as long ago as June 29, 2023, on the very day he and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate," Quinn observed when analyzing Harry's change of residence to the U.S.

"That’s the date given in new business documents filed in the U.S. this week. At the time, few people realized what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry — it was the last straw," he added. "Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore — he felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive."

Charles III's decision, which insiders claim was "purely protocol," came weeks after Harry's "salacious" memoir, Spare, became a bestseller thanks to its author's "explosive details" about his family members. In the tome, the Duke of Sussex criticized his father's parenting skills, called his stepmother, Queen Camilla, "dangerous," and wrote "several disparaging things" about his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate, Princess of Wales.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be 'livid' that Prince Andrew may move into their old home. MEGA

After Megxit, Princess Eugenie and her spouse, Jack Brooksbank, briefly lived in the cottage for six months before vacating in the spring of 2021, where it has remained abandoned ever since.

'He's made millions and had children, but make no mistake that Meghan Markle has destroyed his life, and it will hit him one day,' a palace insider said of the Duke of Sussex. MEGA
