Georgia started trending for Talyn Taylor early in the spring. The Bulldogs continued to pursue the No. 50 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and Kirby Smart‘s program has added one of the top playmakers in the country to its commitment list.

Taylor committed to Georgia over Notre Dame, Ohio State and others.

“Georgia is a great place and it is a great program,” Taylor told On3. “Georgia’s message to me has been that they want me and they think I have a special skill set. They have always made me feel great and I like how they want to use me on the outside and inside.”

James Coley picked up where Bryan McClendon left off with the four-star wide receiver out of Geneva (Ill.) and that connection had an impact on his decision.

“I learn a lot from coach Coley every time I am there. Coach Coley, he’s a great coach. Just watching the spring practice, he coaches hard, he coaches with detail and he coaches with a purpose.”

Not only does Taylor like Georgia for Georgia, but he likes the competition he will face.

“SEC football is different. For me, people always try to tell me that I’m a kid from Illinois, the SEC is a whole different world. I’m a grinder just like you are. I feel like I can go play wherever in the country. If I grind and stick to me, just keep my head down and grind, I feel like I can take off.”

The community at Georgia factored into Taylor’s decision

He was around many commitments, the coaching staff and the people connected to the program on the official visit. Taylor is excited to be part of that community.

“I would say definitely the community, culture and coaching definitely bring me back,” he said is an interview earlier this spring. “They want the best players and they want elusive playmakers. Coach [Kirby] Smart said he wants an ‘elusive playmaker’ and he believes I’m an elusive playmaker. I believe that I can go in there and try my best and hopefully get where I want to be.”
