5 army troopers, SPO injured in Doda gunfight,CPRF trooper killed in Kathua operation

Five Army soldiers and a Special Police Officer (SPO) were injured in a gunfight with militants in the Chattargala area of Doda district early Wednesday morning while a CRPF trooper was killed in an ongoing anti-militancy operation in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district.

Chattargala, Doda District

At approximately 1:45 AM on Wednesday, a joint operation between the Army and police forces encountered militants in the Chattargala area of Doda district, leading to a nocturnal gunfight. During the exchange of fire, five Army soldiers and a Special Police Officer (SPO) sustained bullet injuries. All injured personnel were transported to SDH Bhaderwah for medical treatment. As of now, no further gunfire has been reported, though search operations are ongoing, according to officials.

Hiranagar, Kathua District

In a separate incident, a CRPF trooper was killed during an ongoing operation against militants in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district. Officials reported that at around 3:00 AM, Constable K Dass of the CRPF’s 121 battalion was injured by militant gunfire. He was immediately taken to the Sub District Hospital Hiranagar, where he succumbed to his injuries. Earlier in the encounter, one militant was killed, and a civilian was injured in the initial attack. The anti-militancy operation continues in the surrounding woods, with further details awaited.
