Arsenal could now be about to make one of their most ridiculous transfer decisions in years

Arsenal are no strangers to making some truly ridiculous transfer decisions, and one new rumour could follow in a similar vein if it ends up playing out.

The summer transfer window is finally upon us, with Arsenal set to be one of the busiest Premier League teams in the markets in terms of new signing as well as departures, with many big names due to leave.

Emile Smith Rowe has been strongly linked with a move to London rivals Fulham, whereas Arsenal have reportedly placed an eye-water £50m asking price for Aaron Ramsdale, despite the England international hardly playing this season.

Yet a rumour that has emerged in recent days could threaten to be the most ridiculous all summer.

Juventus eyeing £17m swoop for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior

Reports have this week claimed that Serie A giants Juventus have made Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior one of their top targets for the summer, with the Gunners open to selling the Polish international for just €20m (£17m).

Having made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season, including an incredible nine-game unbeaten streak at left-back that saw Arsenal win eight matches and draw away to Manchester City, Kiwior has more than proved his worth this season.

Which is what makes this new link to Juventus so bonkers on the surface, with Kiwior more than good enough to compete for a starting XI spot at Arsenal for next season with the left-back position still up in the air.

Moreover, the fee being rumoured is nothing short of embarrassing, with £17m more or less what Arsenal paid Spezia last year for Kiwior, who since his arrival has grown greatly as a player in the Premier League.

Gunners would be crazy to sell Kiwior this summer

Whilst there are some claims as to why Kiwior could be offloaded this summer, Arsenal would be crazy to allow the 24-year-old defender to leave this summer, especially for a fee as low as £17m from Juventus.

Kiwior’s versatility at both left-back and centre-back is something the Gunners will find hard to replace in the market, with such a role something that Arsenal might have to spend a lot of money to rediscover.

Moreover, with Kiwior showing that he can compete with the best in the Premier League, Arsenal selling the Polish international would be akin to shooting oneself in the foot, with the defender’s potential departure causing nothing but problems in the squad.
