Australian Titmus breaks world record in 200m freestyle

Top swimmer Ariarne Titmus set a women's world record in the 200 metre freestyle at the Australian Olympic trials in Brisbane on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old double Olympic champion clocked 1 minute 52.23 seconds in Brisbane, clearly beating the previous record of her compatriot Mollie O'Callaghan (1:52.85).

O'Callaghan finished second behind the four-time world champion but with 1:52.48 was also quicker than her old world record.

Titmus also holds the world record for the 400 metres.
