NC State Newsstand: 8 players named to Phil Steele Preseason All-ACC team

Jim Dedmon | USA TODAY Sports

There are less than 80 days until NC State football opens its season against Western Carolina under the lights at Carter-Finley Stadium on Aug. 29. While the Pack is in the midst of its summer workout schedule, two earn national recognition from Phil Steele, while a handful of players earned Phil Steele Preseason All-ACC honors.

Graduate cornerback Aydan White, who was the Wolfpack’s only first team selection in the annual preseason all-conference selections, also earned Defensive All-American fourth team honors. White, the most veteran defensive back on the Pack’s roster, enters the season with more than 800 coverage snaps without allowing a wideout to score a touchdown.

Sophomore wide receiver Kevin “KC” Concepcion, meanwhile, was named a preseason Offensive All-American third team selection. The reigning ACC Rookie of the Year accounted for a team-best 71 receptions for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns this past season, in addition to another 320 rushing yards on 41 carries.

While Concepcion and White were the headliners of the Pack’s honorees, NC State had a pair of third team all-conference selections. Graduate running back Jordan Waters, a Duke transfer, and junior linebacker Caden Fordham earned third-team honors.

Waters enters the year as the Pack’s likely top running back, while Fordham is primed to have a role in the middle of NC State’s defense after the departure of Payton Wilson.

In addition to those selections, the Wolfpack had five players on the fourth team: Graduate quarterback Grayson McCall, graduate offensive tackle Anthony Belton, graduate defensive end Davin Vann, redshirt junior linebacker Sean Brown and redshirt junior punter Caden Noonkester.

It’s time to relive the final out that sent NC State to the Men’s College World Series in Omaha.

The Wolfpack’s trip to Omaha is a historic feat.

Here’s a cool video from RJ Jones, one of the Pack’s latest commitments.

Quote of the day

Wolfpack sophomore outfielder Eli Serrano III arrived in Raleigh with a goal of making it to the Men’s College World Series. He was able to help in that during the Athens Super Regional.

“Coming back with these guys, last year they took me in under their wing when I got here after they got their hearts broken in Omaha. It was like, ‘Alright, what can we do next? How can we improve this team and get this team on the same page to get there again?’ I think that’s what NC State is about. It’s family, it’s team chemistry. It’s blue-collar. It’s everything you could want to be the toughest you can be to get to Omaha.”
