Arms maker Rheinmetall to deliver 1,515 lorries to German military

German armaments and auto parts manufacturer Rheinmetall has announced a €920 million ($996 million) deal to supply the German military with another 1,515 military lorries by November.

The sales are under a framework agreement inked in June 2020 for supplying up to 4,000 lorries equipped with swap-body systems, a cargo loading system that allows the lorries to switch containers loaded on the back quickly.

Rheinmetall also announced on Wednesday that some of the lorries will have an armoured cabin as a protected variant which will "significantly increase the survivability and endurance as well as the tactical flexibility of the logistics units and formations."
