Dominik Szoboszlai looks set to break footballing record in his very first game he'll play at Euro 2024

Dominik Szoboszlai immediately hit the ground running upon joining Liverpool from RB Leipzig last summer.

The Anfield faithful immediately took to the Hungary international, who quickly became a firm favourite under Jurgen Klopp.

The midfielder was a key part of the club’s rebrand in that area, and he certainly didn’t let the pressure get to him on Merseyside.

Szoboszlai’s big-game experience prior to his Anfield switch was undoubtedly key to that effortless transition, with the midfielder showing maturity beyond his years.

Just 23, the Hungarian has already played in many huge games for both club and country, with that set to continue in the years to come.

A slight drop in form towards the end of the most recent campaign did, however, see the midfielder often have to settle for a spot on the bench.

But it is the complete opposition situation for Szoboszlai when it comes to Hungary, with the 23-year-old the captain of his country.

And the Liverpool ace now has the chance to make history this weekend, with Szoboszlai set to become the youngest captain in UEFA European Championship history if he skippers his side against Switzerland at Euro 2024, as per the official UEFA website.

Hungary open their tournament against the Swiss on Saturday, with hosts Germany and Scotland also in their group.

Two Liverpool stars set to clash in Germany

With his club career slightly going off the rails, Szoboszlai will be keen to make a mark at Euro 2024 this summer.

New Liverpool manager Arne Slot will undoubtedly be keeping tabs on all of his players in Germany over the coming weeks.

There is, of course, a high chance that two Anfield stars will come face to face this summer, with Szoboszlai set to meet Andy Robertson when Hungary take on Scotland.

That should be an intriguing battle, with the ‘very gifted’ midfielder certain to want to have bragging rights over the left-back when they return to England for pre-season.

Robertson did suffer a recent injury scare, with one Scotland coach needing to replace him in an open training session in Germany after the full-back could take no further part.

But it was just a precaution for Steve Clarke’s captain, with Robertson likely to feature and play a key role when Scotland meet Germany on Friday.
