The United States of America has imposed new sanctions on more than 300 individuals and entities in the Russian Federation and third countries that help Russia support its war machine, the US Treasury Department announces.
The new sanctions restrictions also expand the scope of secondary sanctions imposed on foreign financial institutions. In particular, the restrictions affected the Russian military-industrial complex. It was banned from using US software and information technology services.
Sanctions were imposed on more than 300 individuals and legal entities both in Russia and abroad. These are countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and the Caribbean.
The list includes, for example:
- Moscow Exchange (MOEX);
- National Clearing Center (NCC);
- Non-Bank Credit Institution Joint Stock Company National Settlement Depository (NSD);
- Gas Industry Insurance Company Sogaz (Sogaz);
- Joint Stock Company Russian National Reinsurance Company (RNRC).
The sanctions also affected:
- Russian banks with offices in China, India, and other countries
- technological enterprises that manufacture products for the military-industrial complex of the terrorist country
- transnational networks that work with Russian-made gold, facilitate the production of drones in Russia and help the enemy circumvent sanctions.
Sanctions against Russia
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the West has significantly increased sanctions against the terrorist country. As an example, the European Union (EU) has already introduced a total of 13 packages of sanctions restrictions. Moreover, the next 14th package is currently being prepared. The new list may include 21 Russian companies, but the list has not yet been made public.
In particular, the bloc plans to strengthen sanctions against the Lukashenko regime, which supports Russia's war against Ukraine.
