Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) says there's a get-out-of-jail-free-card for Trump ally and convicted criminal Steve Bannon.

Appearing on “The Tim Pool Daily Show”, the Florida pol mapped out a way for the conservative host of the “War Room” podcast to avoid surrendering on July 1 to serving out his four month sentence for being in contempt of Congress.

“I believe the only way Steve Bannon does not go to jail is if there is a vote at an entity called 'BLAG," he said, in reference to the "Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group," an entity that "speaks for, and articulates the institutional position of, the House in all litigation matters."

Gaetz said that the Republicans hold a 3-2 majority in this small sect of Congress that is made up of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) , Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), the Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and the Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA).

Bannon, who already filed a request for emergency relief to the U.S. court of appeals in Washington pleading to remain free from prison, is likely going to move to file legal documents to have this small group of leaders determine that the January 6 Committee "was illegitimate", according to Gaetz.

He noted, "it was illegitimately formed, it was a runaway committee, it did not have a proper minority member and whether it's Peter Navarro or Steve Bannon — nobody, nobody should be sitting in a jail cell because they would not comply with the absurd musings of a committee unlike any be before in our nation's history."

Bannon's effort would essentially bank on staving off incarceration by entrusting the GOP hands of BLAG.

And Gaetz believes they will succeed by making it the "official view of the House of Representatives that the January 6 Committee was illegitimate."

The House Select Committee was made up of Democrats and Republicans and tasked with investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
