Netflix is going to fill the NFL summer void next month with the premiere of Receiver, a docu-series following some of the best in the game.

Netflix announced Thursday morning that the Receiver premieres July 10. The streamer also released a two-minute trailer with the caption “Catch every moment.”

The docuseriesfollows Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson, who just signed the biggest contract ever for a receiver. George Kittle, a quirky tight end from the 49ers, also is a major character in Receiver. So is teammate Deebo Samuel. Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown and Davante Adams of the Raiders also are in the Netflix series.

Here’s the Netflix logline for the series: “It’s been said that there’s no more difficult position in the NFL than the quarterback. But throwing the pass is only half the story. Receiver follows five of the NFL’s best pass catchers throughout the 2023 season on and off the field: Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Amon-Ra St. Brown.”

No doubt there will be plenty of 49ers footage with Kittle and Samuel since San Francisco went all the way to the Super Bowl. St. Brown also played a huge part in helping the Lions make the NFL title game.

Meanwhile, Adams went through all sorts of highs and lows as the Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels on Halloween while promoting Antonio Pierce. The starting quarterback also changed. Then there was Jefferson, who did go through offensive hell. He strained his hamstring. Plus Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins ruptured his Achilles.

This is a developing story with more details to come.
