Report: Leeds now want to sign nine-goal attacking midfielder who is available on a free this summer

Leeds United can officially started conducting transfer business from tomorrow onwards.

It is expected to be a busy summer at Elland Road with plenty of incomings and outgoings expected following their failure to win promotion to the Premier League last month.

49ers Enterprises have already acknowledged behind-the-scenes that some key player sales are needed as they look to remain compliant with PSR.

However, Paraag Marathe has also insisted funds will be available for Daniel Farke to spend, with additions likely to be required all across the pitch.

The attacking areas in particular look as though they could be in for an overhaul in the coming weeks, with plenty of interest already mounting.

Leeds set to battle two clubs for Callum O’Hare

Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and Georginio Rutter are just three of the players who were touted for exits swiftly after Leeds’ play-off final defeat.

Unfortunately, Leeds are not going to be able to pay the sort of fees that trio could all bring in this summer and so the free agent market is certainly somewhere in which they should be looking.

There are plenty of players in both the Premier League and Championship whose contracts are expiring this month that could represent excellent business.

Leeds have already been linked with one of them in Fulham’s Bobby De Cordova-Reid, but now according to Team Talk, they have also joined the race for Callum O’Hare.

It is said Leeds could battle both Southampton and Burnley for the attacking midfielder, who is still yet to pen a new deal at Coventry City and looks increasingly like he will leave on a free.

The report also states Leeds have been keeping tabs on O’Hare’s situation for a while and are now ready to make their move amid the uncertainty over his contract.

Who is Leeds target Callum O’Hare?

O’Hare is regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Championship and after overcoming a knee injury at the start of the season, went onto score nine goals across all competitions last term.

Having progressed through the academy at Villa, O’Hare has made 182 appearances in total for Coventry, helping them to promotion from both League One and Two.

One potential hindrance to the deal could be the injury problems he has suffered with across the last two years, the most recent of which was a serious knee ligament injury.

However, the number 10 role is clearly a position Leeds need strength in depth in next season and after Brenden Aaronson’s return earlier this week, he would represent another great option.
