Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka addresses his future amid links to Celtic

Celtic are reportedly interested in Newcastle United veteran Martin Dubravka, and he has now addressed rumours surrounding his future.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to find a successor to Joe Hart, and the 35-year-old is said to be free to leave the North East in pursuit of a new challenge.

There is also the added carrot for Celtic that Newcastle are among a host of Premier League sides who will be keen to meet Profit and Sustainability regulations, which may see them open the door for spare parts to depart in order to try and meet their targets.

Either way, there looks to be a plausible link as the Hoops eye a number-one goalkeeper, given his experience, availability and ability to function at a high level.

In light of this, Dubravka has now shed light on what could come next while he prepares to feature at EURO 2024 with Slovakia.

Martin Dubravka addresses Celtic speculation

Cited via The Scottish Sun, Dubravka has opened up on his future and has indicated that he would consider a ‘concrete offer’ from Celtic; however, he also revealed that at this stage, any chatter over his next steps is merely just noise.

He also hinted that the Hoops have been keeping tabs on him for a year, stating: “I am aware that there are rumours, teammates ask me about it, agents and people call me, if there is any truth to it.

“There was some truth in that a year ago and you see, I stayed at Newcastle, so I still take it as if there is no official offer on the table, then I absolutely do not deal.

“I told my agents that if it was concrete and there was an offer, then only then would I consider it. At the moment, it is only in the stage of some noises.”

Dubravka later added when asked about Newcastle’s goalkeeping situation: “Of course, I pick up some news from the newspapers – we sign goalkeepers, we don’t sign, and somehow I don’t really care what happens, to tell the truth.”

Celtic are circling for a new stopper, and Dubravka may fit the bill, with circumstances seemingly aligning in their favour.

Per Transfermarkt, the 35-year-old featured 30 times for Newcastle last campaign in all competitions, racking up eight clean sheets as they narrowly missed out on continental qualification.

Nick Pope is their preferred choice when fully fit, paving the way for Dubravka to seek a new challenge. If both parties are open to establishing a working relationship, that may well come at Celtic.
