BJP's Ninong Ering sworn in as Pro-tem Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh assembly

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], June 13 (ANI): Ninong Ering, one of the senior members of the 8th State Legislative Assembly, was sworn in as the Pro-tem Speaker of the 8th Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly, in an official ceremony at the Vivekananda Hall, Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, on Thursday.

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd), administered the oath to Ering.

Ering will perform the duties of the office of the Pro-tem Speaker in the eighth Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh until the Speaker shall have been chosen by the Assembly.

He will administer oaths to the newly-elected legislators of the State Legislative Assembly when the House is convened.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, and Cabinet Ministers were present on the occasion, amongst others.

Pema Khandu assumed charge as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister after taking the oath for the third term consecutive term today.

After assuming charge as Chief Minister Pema Khandu held the first Cabinet meeting in the afternoon in Itanagar.

When asked about the key decisions taken in the first cabinet meeting of the government held today, he told ANI that In the first cabinet meeting, the Arunachal government finalized plans for the next 100 days, focusing on education, youth empowerment, sports, and tourism.

"After the formation of the government, we have to set a target of 100 days. We had a cabinet meeting and we have finalised what we will be doing in the next 100 days.

By and large, we approved the 24 points. We will work on 24 points, in which the government's prime focus will be on education, youth empowerment, sports, and tourism. We have decided to make policies accordingly," CM Khandu said.

CM Khandu further said that the state government has today released Rs 100 crore under the Chief Minister's Social Security Scheme.

"After taking the oath I assumed the office we have first released Rs 100 crore under Chief Minister's Social Security Scheme. This is for divyangjans (disabled people), old age pension. Our priority is that we have set a target for 100 days. Under PM Modi's leadership a lot of work will be done. No doubt in the last 10 years Arunachal got a lot of infrastructure. We got the airport, railway connectivity reached here," he added. (ANI)
