Missouri lands 3-star safety Dyllon Williams before Kentucky visit

Eliah Drinkwitz‘s Missouri program has a ton of momentum entering the 2024 college football season. After four consecutive non-winning seasons, the Tigers produced a top-10 product in 2023 leading to 11 wins capped off by a victory over Ohio State in the New Year’s Six. There are College Football Playoff expectations this season.

Add in special NIL legislation passed in the Show Me State and that gives Drinkwitz’s program some leverage in the recruiting space. Mizzou is currently in the process of signing a top-25 class.

On Tuesday, the SEC program landed a Kentucky safety target. Demopolis (Ala.) High senior Dyllon Williams committed to Missouri before completing his scheduled official visits.

The top-50 safety prospect completed official visits to Missouri and Cincinnati before deciding to end his recruitment. Ole Miss (June 14-16) and Kentucky (June 21-23) were scheduled to get official visits from Dyllon Williams. That is not expected to happen now after Williams moved up his commitment from July to June.

Kentucky recorded a big recruiting win at safety when blue-chip recruit Martels Carter committed to the Wildcats, but UK did lose a recruiting battle to Ole Miss when Keon Young committed after his official visit to Oxford. Some new targets at safety will need to emerge. Hamilton (Ohio) High senior Noah King could be a player to monitor moving forward after a strong camp performance at Kroger Field.
