All-time Ole Miss golf great Jackson Suber learned Tuesday he was named an alternate for this week’s U.S. Open Championship.
He teed off — from Hole 10, in Pinehurst, North Carolina — shortly after noon CT on Thursday. The Open is the third of the four men’s major golf championships. It’s on the official schedule of both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
Play runs from June 13-16. Suber has participated in two PGA Tour events since he joined the pro circuit in 2022. He’s currently ranked No. 44 while playing on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he’s made the cut in 21 of 33 events. He has six Top 10 finishes.
Suber had a decorated college career with the Rebels, including the second-best team-wide finish in program history (14th) in the 2022 NCAA Championships. He tallied the second-highest season stroke average in school history (69.77) as as senior.
Suber was a two-time PING All-American and had 12 Top 5 finishes. He’ll jump-start his second round at No. 2 on Thursday at 12:36 p.m. CT.
OLE MISS SOFTBALL ANNOUNCES EARLEYWINE AS ASSISTANT
Ole Miss softball has added some championship flavor to its coaching staff with the addition of Ehren Earleywine.
The hire of Earleywine was announced on Thursday. He’s a three-time conference coach of the year and boasts nearly 600 career wins.
“Ehren comes to us with a history of high-level success as a player and as a coach at both the baseball and softball collegiate levels,” Ole Miss head coach Jaimie Trachsel said. “He has a blueprint for program and personnel development, as well as the experience and knowledge of what it takes to build and sustain success in recruiting, player development, game prep and in-game decisions.”
Earleywine previously spent 11 seasons as the head coach at Missouri.
The Tigers made three College World Series appearances and posted the first three 50-win seasons in program history under his watch. They advanced to eight Super Regionals and averaged 43.8 wins per season.
“His passion and knowledge for teaching and personal growth throughout his journey over his entire career make him a great asset to our program, including the vision and goals we have for the overall experiences and success of all of the young women in our program and Ole Miss softball,” Trachsel said.

Earleywine was a three-time coach of the year.
He led Missouri to six straight NCAA Regional titles and a pair of conference championships.
The Tigers won the Big 12 regular season championship in 2011. Earleywine helped shepherd Missouri into the SEC in 2013. The Tigers finished third and hosted and won a regional. His teams were ranked inside the Top 10 seven consecutive years.
Earleywine also spent five seasons at Georgia Tech. He was the head coach for his last three. The Yellowjackets broke every offensive record in school history and set eight ACC records.
Earleywine, as a player, was a four-time member of Team USA. He was named captain for his final two. He was a six-time All-American. Earleywine’s served as District Activities Director for Jefferson City Public Schools the last five years.

Ole Miss men’s golf has its first signee for the 2024-25 class.
The Rebels have landed LSU transfer Cohen Trolio, the brother of rising Ole Miss sophomore Collins Trolio.
”We are extremely excited to welcome Cohen to our family,” head coach Chris Malloy said. “He not only is a world-class player, but an even better young man. We can’t wait to get him to campus to help us in our quest for an NCAA Championship.”
Cohen Trolio and LSU made three straight NCAA Regionals during his time as a Tiger. He’s a native of West Point, Mississippi, and a former SEC All-Freshman. Trolio led Oak Hill Academy to four state titles as a high-schooler. He won the 2021 Mississippi State Amateur.
