US sends submarine to Cuba after Russian ships sail to island

The US submarine USS Helena arrived in Cuba today, June 13. Russian warships are currently on the island, according to the US Southern Command.

"The fast-attack submarine USS Helena is in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as part of a routine port visit as it transits the US Southern Command geographic area of responsibility," said the military.

They clarified that the submarine is carrying out a mission of global maritime security and national defense. The ship's route was planned in advance.

Russian ships in Cuba

Yesterday, June 12, three warships and the Kazan submarine, which can carry nuclear weapons, arrived in Cuba. They are in the port of Havana.

It is expected that one of the Russian ships will fire a salvo to greet the communist government of Cuba.
