The bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States contains clauses on the transfer of squadrons, including F-16 fighters, stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden.

"The agreement has good provisions on weapons for our defense, very specifically on the Patriot systems, very specifically on the supply of fighter squadrons to Ukraine - that's right, plural, squadrons - including but not limited to F-16," Zelenskyy emphasized following the signing of the security agreement with the United States.

It is worth noting that one squadron usually includes 12 aircraft.

F-16s for Ukraine

Last year, several allies announced the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, which Kyiv had been asking for for a long time. In particular, the planes are being delivered by Denmark and the Netherlands.

The first deliveries are expected to begin soon. Ukrainian pilots have been training to fly these aircraft for almost a year.
