Mary Trump unleashes fury at Elon Musk on social media: 'Even stupider than I thought!'

Donald Trump's niece has blasted Elon Musk for his recent decision to hide likes on social media platform X.

After purchasing the former Twitter site for $44bn, Musk has implemented a number of changes.

The latest change saw X hiding likes from users' public-facing profiles on June 12.

It came just a day after Musk wrote that it is "important to allow people to like posts without getting attacked for doing so!"

The decision has been criticised by some users including Mary Trump.

On the day of the launch, she wrote: "I didn't think it was possible, but the latest 'improvement' to Twitter shows that @elonmusk is even stupider than I thought."

Hundreds of other users commented on the post to share their anger over the change.

One person wrote: "He is hiding that he can possibly like a porn tweet, a racist tweet, or whatever it is that he doesn't want everyone to see.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"My take, he only has access to it and he will in the future use it against anyone who goes after and against him."

Another said: "I'm sure he's doing it for his vanity, just like Trump. Elon couldn't stand criticism on Twitter, so he bought it to control it.

"Now, I'm betting he couldn't stand people pointing out the various disgusting and conspiratorial posts he likes, so he got rid of it."

A third added: "I wish we could sue him for this platform he destroyed."

Others welcomed the switch, with controversial English internet personality Oli London writing: "Great new feature Elon. Will definitely help users feel more comfortable liking posts that they agree with."

"Good move. It's a step toward providing people with more privacy. If people want to share what they like, they can repost the content," social media personality Ed Krassenstein said.

"It's sad that people will get attacked for liking something," another person added.
