The Florida State Seminoles have one of the proudest and most prestigious baseball programs in all of college baseball. They’ve been one of the most consistently dominant in the nation over the past few decades. Unfortunately, last year, they had to deal with the embarrassment of missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 45 years. Link Jarrett and his players were able to get things turned around in a hurry this year, and the Seminoles are back where they are used to being, in Omaha for the 2024 College World Series.
Recently, Daniel Cantu and Alex Lodise spoke with reporters about the differences about last year’s team and this year’s Florida State squad.

“We weren’t a part of last year’s team, but hearing what went on last year, we definitely wanted to come in and make a difference and help this team win and build a winning culture again and get back on track and back to the promise land in Omaha, and that’s exactly what we did,” Cantu explained.
“Like he said, we were not here last year, but we know our team. We’re just one big family. That’s all Cam Leiter we are. One big family. We just go out and we just play like we all are a family and just have fun while we’re doing it,” Alex Lodise said.
The Florida State Seminoles stroll into Omaha with a 47-15 overall record. They throttled the UConn Huskies in their first game of the Tallahassee Super Regional 24-4. The 24 runs scored by the ‘Noles were a season-high. It also set an NCAA record for the most runs ever scored in a Super Regional. The 20-point margin of victory was also the most ever scored in a Super Regional Round.
Then in Game 2 against the Huskies, ACC Player of the Year James Tibbs III broke an 8-8 tie in the top of the 12th inning with his third home run of the game. He helped propel Florida State to victory, punching their tickets to the 2024 College World Series. It’s the 24th appearance in Omaha for the Seminole program and their first since 2019.
The No. 8 seed Florida State Seminoles will face off against the No. 1 seed Tennessee Volunteers on Friday, June 14th. The game will start at 7:00 PM EST and will be televised on ESPN and ESPN+.
