Jaguars' Lawrence to join Bengals' Burrow as highest-paid NFL player

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is to join Cincinnati Bengals' quarterback Joe Burrow as the highest-paid player in NFL history, NFL Insider Adam Schefter said on Thursday evening.

The Jaguars and Lawrence have agreed on a five-year, $275 million contract extension, according to Schefter.

The deal averages out to $55 million per year, which ties him with Burrow for highest in the NFL. The Bengals' quarterback signed a a five-year, $275 million extension with the franchise in September of 2023.

Burrow's contract, however, includes $219.01 million guaranteed, while Lawrence's includes $200 million guaranteed.

The Jaguars selected Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL draft. He struggled in his rookie season, but led the team to the AFC South title and the divisional round of the play-offs in the following year.

The Jaguars are playing two games in London this year: Against the Chicago Bears on October 13 and against the New England Patriots on October 20.
