Not a fan of the eyelash curler? Don't panic, there's a quick, easy trick that can get you the same results in no time. And all it requires is a product you probably already have in your bathroom. In fact, a cotton bud is all it takes to curl your lashes like a pro, according to one professional makeup artist!

Not everyone can get the hang of using an eyelash curler. While that might sound strange to some, others just can't get their heads around this beauty tool designed to lift and curl their lashes. As a result, they simply build up layers of mascara and wave goodbye to a natural look. But this problem that may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to the latest tip from American professional makeup artist and content creator Samantha Taormina. She reveals how a simple cotton bud can achieve the same -- if not better -- results than an eyelash curler. And from the many comments posted under her TikTok video, it looks like it (really) works!

All you need is mascara and a cotton bud. Once you've got what you need, the first step is simply to apply your mascara as you normally would. Then comes the new part. The makeup artist advises taking a cotton bud, placing it at the base of the lashes, then gently and delicately twirling it to "curl" the lashes and remove excess product, before pressing the end of the cotton but onto the lashes to gently bend them upwards. Note that this step must be carried out immediately after applying mascara, before it dries -- ie quickly.

According to the makeup artist, the cotton bud is gentler on lashes than eyelash curlers, which are generally made of metal. Admittedly, the result is spectacular and, above all, very natural. And that's something the content creator's followers were quick to point out, with comments like: "It's brilliant!," "It's genius," "I absolutely must try this," "I have small eyes and the eyelash curler always pinches my skin on both sides" or "I'm going to try it, I hate the eyelash curler so much."

This isn't the first time that users of the Chinese social network have turned to such tricks to achieve long, perfectly curled eyelashes. In 2022, a beauty hack went viral involvingswapping mascara for Vaseline, then using an eyelash curler to accentuate the effect. You could try combining the two by using Vaseline followed by a cotton bud, ditching your mascara completely if you like the results.
