Report: Galatasaray now want to sign £30m Man City player, he’d be open to the move

Galatasaray have reportedly set their sights on signing a Manchester City player this summer.

Previous summer transfer windows have seen numerous big-name players leave the Manchester club.

Names such as Cole Palmer, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling are just some of the players that the Citizens have cashed in on in recent memory.

Despite that, the Blues still managed to regain the Premier League title in their latest attempt, becoming the first side to win four in a row.

Now that another summer transfer window has opened, another figure currently in Pep Guardiola’s squad has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Galatasaray plotting summer transfer move for Mateo Kovacic

According to a recent report from Fotomac, Galatasaray want to sign Mateo Kovacic from City this summer after having an interest in him since February.

The report also adds that the Turkish club are planning to approach the Blues in the coming days to discuss a possible deal for the Croatian, who would not turn down a move to Galatasaray unless a better offer comes his way.

The 30-year-old only joined City during the 2023 summer transfer window from Chelsea in a deal worth £30m.

Kovacic’s debut season at City

Across his debut season with the Blues, Kovacic started 30 of the 46 games he appeared in across all competitions.

After seeing the midfielder feature in City’s 2-0 away win against Tottenham Hotspur which ended up being a crucial victory in the title race for the Blues, Guardiola described Kovacic’s individual performance as “unbelievable” on the night, highlighting how impressive he was on and off the ball.

Taking that into account and the fact that the Croatian’s contract at City isn’t set to expire until 2027, we feel that the club shouldn’t look to sell Kovacic this early into his time at the club unless he asks to leave and Galatasaray offer a suitable deal for him.
