While participating in the G7 summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pope Francis. One of the topics of discussion was the peace summit to take place this weekend, according to the president's Facebook post.

Zelenskyy thanked the pontiff for his prayers for peace in Ukraine, spiritual closeness with Ukrainians, and humanitarian aid.

During the talks, the parties discussed the consequences of the Russian invasion, Russia's air terror, and the difficult situation in the energy sector.

“We also talked about the Peace Formula, the role of the Holy See in establishing a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine, and expectations from the Global Peace Summit,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that he appreciated the Vatican's participation in the summit and efforts to bring peace closer, including the return of deported Ukrainian children from Russia.
