Former President Donald Trump's criminal election racketeering case in Georgia will be the subject of a new documentary from the BBC, the British public broadcaster announced Friday.

"State of Georgia v. Donald J. Trump," the feature film's working title, will document the Fulton County District Attorney's office as it prosecutes a former president running to reclaim the office he lost in 2020, according to a BBC press release.

"[It] follows the people who are working to put Donald Trump behind bars," the announcement states, "and those determined to return him to The White House."

The BBC boasts of "unprecedented access" that will allow filmmakers to explore Trump's race to the political finish line against District Attorney Fani Wills' race to trial in Georgia's criminal court.

"Not only is Georgia a hugely important swing state in the presidential race, it’s where Trump allegedly tried to overturn the 2020 election," the announcement notes.

"Now, in 2024, Trump must win the Georgia vote - but before that, he and his 18 co-defendants face a criminal trial."

(Trump was initially indicted alongside 18 co-defendants, but four have since pleaded guilty to lesser charges in exchange for their testimony.)

A small film crew will follow both the prosecution and the defense as they prepare for what the BBC dubs "the most audacious ‘criminal racketeering enterprise’ case in American history."

Emmy Award-winning director Marian Mohamed said she is "thrilled" by the prospect of covering the trial.

"This is an extraordinary moment in history," Mohamed said. "Having the chance to be at the heart of a story that could change the world we live in is thrilling. As a filmmaker, it’s the kind of opportunity you dream about.”
