The International Criminal Court (ICC) is investigating cyber attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure as potential war crimes, reports Reuters.

An unnamed official told Reuters that ICC prosecutors are investigating cyber attacks on infrastructure posing threats to the lives of civilians. This includes attacks that led to disruptions in electricity and water supplies, as well as mobile communication failures.

He added that the ICC, in collaboration with Ukrainian law enforcement, is investigating cyber attacks that occurred after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Meanwhile, two other sources told Reuters that Russia could have been conducting cyber attacks even during the occupation of Crimea.

According to the source, the ICC may issue arrest warrants based on the investigation findings if sufficient evidence is collected.

Russian cyber attacks

On December 12 of last year, Russians carried out a cyber attack on Kyivstar (the largest electronic communications operator in Ukraine). As a result, all subscribers lost connection.

Experts worked to restore mobile communication for several days.
