Penn State will host its second of three 7-on-7 tournaments Friday afternoon. Unlike last weekend’s tournament, which featured 16 high schools, head coach James Franklin and his staff will host more than 40 different schools today from across the region. The list of expected participants includes two of Pennsylvania’s top programs as well, as both Harrisburg High and Imhotep Charter are in State College to compete.
Harrisburg now features Penn State’s lone commit in the 2026 class, as running back Messiah Mickens transferred from Trinity earlier this year. He’s one of four rising-juniors on the team that already rank inside the On300 as well. Offensive lineman Kevin Brown already ranks among the nation’s best prospects at No. 28 overall, while wide receiver Elias Coke and athlete D’Antae Sheffey are also notable names for fans to keep an eye on.
As for Imhotep, the Panthers are coming off a PIAA 5A state championship and feature a handful of players who will play at college football’s highest level. 2025 prospects Zahir Mathis and Jabree Wallace-Coleman aren’t expected to participate, but Imhotep still features a handful of players who already hold an offer from Penn State, including linebackers Charles Belser and Zykee Scott, as well as wide receiver Kareem Haqq.
