The following is the gist of a joint statement released Friday on the second day of the three-day summit of the Group of Seven industrialized nations in Fasano, southern Italy.
The G7:
-- strongly opposes any unilateral attempt to change status quo by force or coercion in East, South China seas.
-- reaffirms peace and stability across Taiwan Strait are indispensable to international security and prosperity.
-- expresses serious concern about China's increasing use of dangerous maneuvers and water cannons against Philippine ships.
-- voices concern about China's nonmarket policies and practices that are leading to harmful overcapacity.
-- agrees to provide $50 bil. in loans for Ukraine using frozen Russian assets.
-- remains committed to Ukraine's long-term security and goal of realizing just, lasting and comprehensive peace.
-- demands China to press Russia to stop aggression against Ukraine and to cease dual-use materials transfers to Russia.
-- condemns increasing North Korea-Russia military ties in strongest possible terms.
-- says Israel must fully comply with international law in all circumstances.
-- will launch an action plan on use of AI in world of work.
