Man Utd star says Arsenal ace is the best player in the Premier League, it's not Declan Rice

Arsenal enjoyed an outstanding campaign despite falling just short in the Premier League title race, and their players have earned recognition within the game.

The likes of Declan Rice and William Saliba are now recognised as some of the best players around in their respective positions, and Arsenal are expected to challenge for the Premier League title again.

Rice has been particularly outstanding since his club record move from West Ham, and was one of the Premier League’s best players this season. However, one Arsenal star pipped him to the club’s Player of the Season award.

Martin Odegaard took that accolade, and the Arsenal captain perhaps deserved it given his level of performance.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw plays with both Rice and Bukayo Saka at International level, but he has now claimed that Odegaard is better than both.

Speaking to GOAL, Shaw was asked who he thinks is the best player in the Premier League, and he named Odegaard above any of his teammates for club or country without hesitation.

Odegaard had an outstanding campaign, with 11 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, and even Gary Neville was effusive in his praise, labelling him as the best player in the league this season.

Odegaard is now gaining the recognition he deserves as Arsenal’s best performer this season, and his consistency throughout 2024 has been unmatched.

The 25-year-old leads by example on and off the pitch, and his combination of outstanding technique and energetic work rate makes him one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Mikel Arteta’s decision to sign Odegaard permanently after his initial loan was questioned, but his captain has proven him right, and he will hope that his performances eventually lead to silverware.

The Norweigan will have a summer to rest whilst his teammates are competing at the Euros, with Norway failing to qualify for the tournament, and Arteta will be delighted that such a key player will be available for the whole of pre-season.
