Welcome to the Gators Online Show! For episode 95, co-hosts Zach Abolverdi and Nick de la Torre discuss to the preseason picks from Phil Steele and Lindy’s Sports and UF baseball in the College World Series.
The two publications have released their predictions for the Gators in 2024. We shared our reaction to those projections, including first team All-SEC honors for running back Montrell Johnson Jr. from both Phil Steele and Lindy’s.
Eight UF football players have been selected to Phil Steele’s 2024 Preseason All-SEC Teams, while just a trio of Gators earned preseason All-SEC honors from Lindy’s Sports. In addition to Johnson, both publications are high on Florida punter Jeremy Crawshaw.
Phil Steele’s preseason All-SEC second team included linebacker Shemar James, cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. and long snapper Rocco Underwood. Wide receiver Eugene Wilson III was named to Lindy’s Sports All-SEC second team but omitted by Phil Steele.
Lindy’s Sports ranked the Gators No. 37 nationally in its preseason poll and picked them to finish 12th in the SEC ahead of South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. We also react to the kickoff times announced this week for Florida’s 2024 season.

We wrap up the show with a preview of the Florida baseball team against the No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. It’s a rematch of SEC opening weekend when UF won the series.
The Gators advanced to the College World Series last Sunday by winning their ninth straight Super Regional under coach Kevin O’Sullivan with an 11-10 walk-off victory at Clemson in 13 innings.
