Police: Man makes Hitler salute during Euro 2024 party in Germany

A man has shown the Hitler salute and sung racist lyrics to the tune of the party hit "L'amour toujours" at a beach club in Bremen, police in the northern German city on the North Sea coast said on Saturday.

The 29-year-old is being investigated for incitement to hatred, the police said. The man, who was part of a group of three, was apparently filmed by a third party on his mobile phone on Friday evening.

The three also shouted an anti-Semitic slogan. Witnesses then called the police.

The trio watched the opening match at the club. During the course of the evening, the 29-year-old reportedly sung the lyrics "Germany for the Germans. Foreigners Out" to the tune of a Gigi D'Agostino song.

At the same time, he is said to have indicated a Hitler moustache with two fingers. Witnesses called the police and the three men fled.

The 29-year-old was subsequently identified. He and his accomplices are now facing criminal charges, including for incitement to hatred, which could result in a prison sentence of between three months and five years.
