BBNBA Finals: PJ Washington and Mavericks stave off elimination in Game 4

It’s been a rough road for former Kentucky Wildcat, PJ Washington, and the Dallas Mavericks in these 2024 NBA Playoffs. After dropping the first two games in Boston, they nearly pulled off a comeback win at home in Game 3 but faltered after Luka Doncic fouled out late in the 4th quarter. Facing a sweep in Game 4 on Friday, the Mavericks did not sail off quietly into the night. Instead, they beat the Celtics’ heads in.

This one was a blowout from the opening tip, as Luka Doncic, who received all kinds of criticism in the last few days for acting like the NBA was European soccer with his constant whining to the referees, stepped up and became unstoppable. He had 25 points in the first half and led the Mavs to a 26-point advantage going into the break.

The shellacking did not stop there. The final score ended up 122-84 with nearly every single sub on each team getting into the game.

PJ Washington only needed to play 14 minutes in this laugher. While on the court, he knocked down two of his three 3-point attempts for six points and grabbed two rebounds.

Ultimately, it feels like the Mavericks did nothing more than prolong the inevitable. After all, no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win any series, much less the NBA Playoffs.

As for Celtics fans, don’t think they are hanging their head. KSR’s own Jack Pilgrim, who cheers for Boston for reasons unknown, said after his team’s loss, “It’s cooler to win at home anyway.”

The series returns to Boston for Game 5 on Monday night.
