Bryant (Ark.) High’s Daniel Anderson is no stranger to Notre Dame, having already visited campus four times. The class of 2025 running back has also been committed to the Fighting Irish since last September, and he made South Bend trip No. 5 last weekend for his official visit.

“It was amazing,” Anderson said. “I’ve been up there a few times, and I don’t think I’ve had an experience like that before. It was so much fun, and I’m really glad I got to be there to experience it all.

“We did a lot each day. We met with some people I haven’t met yet and bonded with the other recruits. There were three uncommitted players there with us, so we got to get to know those guys and try to get them to come.

“I got to know more about Notre Dame and see how close the team is as a family. That’s something that gets me really excited — seeing how true of a family they are.”

There were plenty of activities during the trip, including a game that the ND staff came up with a few years ago and a trip to head coach Marcus Freeman’s home.

“We played some ‘Irish Ball’ on Saturday, which was pretty fun,” Anderson said. “We went golfing, and that was cool. I had never done that before. Coach Freeman hosted us at his house, and it was insane. I’ve never seen a house like that. We had dinner, a pool party, haircuts, basketball court — we did everything there.”

Anderson thinks the world of the Notre Dame staff and enjoyed time spent with them during the June 7-9 weekend.

“It was great to see all of them again,” he said. “Chad [Bowden] has a great energy. I got to learn more from Coach [Deland] McCullough on how he runs his room and what he expects from me when I get up there. The way Coach Freeman talks about the school makes me very excited. I’m grateful that they consider me a part of their family.”

Anderson also got to chat with new offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.

“I got to speak with him over the weekend, and he’s a really good guy,” said Anderson. “I’m excited to see where we go from there when I get there.”

The 5-11, 190-pounder committed to the Irish just hours before ND kicked off against Ohio State last fall, picking Freeman’s program over Colorado, Mississippi State, Tennessee and others. He’s rock solid in his commitment.

“I’ve been focused on Notre Dame,” he said. “I’ve had some other schools here and there text me, but it’s nothing crazy.”

Anderson only played in a few games as a junior due to a lower body injury. He’s fired up about being at full strength this fall as a senior.

“I’m very excited,” Anderson stated. “I want to stay healthy this season and ball out with my guys. I want to show everyone what I can do on the field.”

Anderson ranks as the No. 577 overall prospect and No. 45 running back nationally according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. He doesn’t get a lot of hype or buzz because of his injury, and the state of Arkansas isn’t known as one of the deeper states for high school football recruits.

He wants to show the country his talent, but Anderson isn’t letting it become a distraction.

“In a way, yes, but at the same time, no,” said Anderson when asked if he has a chip on his shoulder. “Everyone wants to prove that they are a good player, but I’m doing it for me and my future.”
