Celtic fans superbly answer Scott Brown's call

Back in May, Bhoys legend Scott Brown had a simple request for Celtic fans – show their famous backing and pack out their allocation for the upcoming friendly away to Ayr United.

The former Celtic captain – now manager of the Ayrshire side – knows it’s a financial boost that can help him in the summer transfer window as he eyes making progress in the Scottish Championship next term.

Brown told Celtic TV: “It’d be great to see Celtic fans take over Ayr. I would love to see all the fans down at the game – it would mean so much to myself as well.

“Celtic fans support Celtic through everything, thick and thin, win or loss, they travel the world. They sing and travel in their thousands. Hopefully, a wee 45 minutes down the road they can come along in their thousands as well.”

That call has been answered after the club confirmed this weekend that they have sold out the allocation given to Celtic fans for the Somerset Park fixture that commemorates the opening of a newly built stand.

Not long until fans see Celtic back in action

It’s superb backing, especially after Ayr had already increased the number of briefs available after fans raced to buy out an initial allocation.

Unbelievably we are now less than three weeks away from the Friday night July 5th encounter. On the back of double success, fans are clearly motivated to see the Bhoys again as they warm up for a pre-season tour of the USA.

Who knows, we may even get a glimpse of some new signings if the club can get deals over the line over the next fortnight.

Celtic also have a match against Queen’s Park pencilled in for July 10th, although no away fans will be allowed entry into that one.

Then there’s the triple threat of DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea to look forward to, which will seriously ramp up the intensity of the Bhoys’ pre-season work.
