Around 30 schools offered Pittsburg (Calif.) safety Jadyn Hudson. He locked in official visits to UCLA and USC in May, but after visiting Westwood, he didn’t need to take his visit to Los Angeles.

“I knew when I was on my official visit to UCLA on June 1 that I was going there,” Hudson told On3. “Talking to the coaches, spending time with the players and being around all of the people at UCLA, I knew that is where I wanted to go.”

Hudson stays home with the Bruins. He was offered under the old staff, but never visited when Chip Kelly was the head coach. The No. 233 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking has visited twice since DeShaun Foster became the head coach and there is a new energy.

“Coach Foster is changing things. He is already making a big difference at UCLA. He cares about his players. Coach Foster came from a military background, so he is all about discipline and teaching.

“I like who he is and he is going to turn UCLA around. The players love him. He is a great coach, he is down to earth and he is so easy to talk to. Coach Foster made a big difference with me. I know I will get the development I need on and off the field with him there.”

Hudson is UCLA’s 11th commitment.

Hudson has a great connection with UCLA’s Norwood

UCLA’s likes Hudson’s versatility. He can play either safety slot for the Bruins and Brian Norwood will get the luxury of working with the four-star.

“Me and coach Norwood have a great relationship. He was recruiting me when Chip was there, so we have known each other for a while. He has recruited me hard and he is always checking in on me and my family.

“I like coach Norwood a lot. We can talk about anything, so I like him off the field, and on the field, I know he will help me develop. Coach Norwood is a real person. He loves God, he is genuine and i love our relationship.”

Outside of the relationships with Norwood and Foster, Hudson said he chose UCLA because of the academics, the culture and the location.
