More than 20,000 attend gay pride parade in Zurich

Well over 20,000 people took part in a gay pride demonstration in the Swiss city of Zurich on Saturday, police said.

On the fringes of the peaceful event, six Swiss nationals and one German were temporarily detained for circulating homophobic flyers using a drone.

According to the police, the men between the ages of 19 and 33 are part of the far-right scene. A man from Afghanistan man and an Eritrean were also detained for disruptive behaviour.

At this year's gay pride rally in Zurich, people demonstrated for the recognition and legal protection of polyamory, open relationships and other forms of cohabitation.

The rights of queer people who are not heterosexual or do not identify with traditional norms around gender and sexuality were also highlighted.
