After practice on Friday and qualifying on Saturday, Brad Keselowski believes that there will be plenty of passing at Iowa Speedway. It might be a controversial take in NASCAR right now, but we might see passing on a short track.

Brad Keselowski is a smart driver. His family comes from a car-building background. The Keselowski family has been racing their own cars as long as they have been racing. When it comes to driver opinions on setups and tire wear, he’s one to trust.

Tires lasted about 20-25 laps in practice with drivers running hard. In the Xfinity Series, a different tire, they are going 30-35 laps in the race when pushing the pace. Of course, drivers can back off the pace and conserve their tires.

“Controversial take,”Brad Keselowski posted on X.com, formerly known as Twitter. “I think the track will be really good for passing tomorrow.”

Brad Keselowski is optimistic. I think he is going to have fun on the track Sunday along with the other drivers who have been in the Cup Series for a number of years. Tire-wear races like Bristol earlier this season give an advantage to those old-school short-track racers.

If Keselowski is right and there is a good amount of passing, NASCAR fans will be asking for Iowa to remain on the schedule for years. Finding a good short track is hard these days when it comes to the Next Gen car.
