After a lengthy four-hour delay, the Texas A&M Aggies and Florida Gators finally got underway at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. In Game 1 of their College World Series matchup on Saturday night, the Aggies have jumped all over the Gators early, with a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. ESPN’s Kris Budden spoke with Gators head coach Kevin O’Sullivan about his thoughts on the game.

What did he see from his pitcher, Liam Peterson? “I think, you know, it’s obvious he’s got really good stuff. He just worked himself into a couple of walks. And he just made two mistakes on 0-2 counts but obviously, you can see, the talent is there,” O’Sullivan explained.

After 2.1 innings of work, Peterson threw four strikeouts and four walks, while allowing three earned runs. He was benched and replaced by Fisher Jameson.

Jac Caglianone is coming up this inning. What does he need from his guys to produce some offense and get some runs on the board? “Well, we need to get the leadoff man on. I think they went to then pen right now. We’ll just see if we can get that leadoff man on. Looked like that wind died down a little bit, so maybe we’ll be a little bit more offensive,” the Gators head man noted.
