Report: 2024-25 promotion rivals interview 'great' manager Leeds held talks to hire before Daniel Farke

Leeds United will be one of the favourites to win promotion next season alongside the three relegated clubs, and one of those have held talks with a manager The 49ers eyed last summer.

Defeat in the play-off final sees Leeds go into next season’s Championship but given Daniel Farke’s men achieved a huge 90 points in the regular campaign, they will be seen as favourites to finish as Champions.

The biggest threat to Farke’s bid to win a third Championship title next term is likely to come from the three relegated clubs. Luton Town and Rob Edwards look incredibly strong going into the 2024-25 term.

They are likely to lose a few players but put up a good fight in the Premier League, but for Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United it is the opposite. Plenty of work needs to be done this summer over at Bramall Lane.

It is difficult to predict what is to come from Burnley, who have a solid squad but have lost their manager in Vincent Kompany. The Belgian has made the surprise move to Bayern Munich, despite being relegated.

Burnley hold talks for manager 49ers met with last summer

Last summer, Leeds were interested in a handful of managers before appointing Farke. Graham Potter was one of those and he is now in talks to take over at Leicester, after they lost Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.

Brendan Rodgers, Steven Gerrard, Carlos Corberan and plenty of others were linked including “great” boss Scott Parker. The former England star has two promotions from The Championship as a manager.

His work at Fulham and Bournemouth attracted Brugge in 2022-23, but his spell lasted just 12 games. It ended in disaster and he has failed to get a job since, despite holding talks with Leeds last summer.

Now, Burnley could hire Scott Parker after Leeds talks in 2023

A report from The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon on his Patreon channel states that Burnley are holding talks to find a successor for Kompany, and they have held talks with three managers as things stand.

One of those is Parker, while Frank Lampard is also under consideration at Turf Moor this summer. The third is Liam Rosenior who Hull City harshly sacked despite almost securing a place in the play-offs.

Burnley are expected to speak to a couple more candidates before choosing Kompany’s successor but time is ticking. Connor Roberts’ side could have Parker in the dugout come the start of the season.
